FROM THE WORD OF GOD THE CREATOR FOR THIS DAY OF AUGUST 30

“He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces.” — Isa_25:8.

“O Death, where is thy sting? O Grave, where is thy victory?” — 1Co_15:55.

“God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” — Rev_7:17.

DAVID HEARS OF ABSALOM’S DEATH

David Hears of Absalom’s Death. The king asked the Cushite, “Is the young man Absalom [my son] safe?” The Cushite replied, “May the enemies of my lord the king, and all those who rise against you to do evil, be [dead] like that young man is.”

THE SNARE OF SUCCESS

The snare of success. Gideon made [all the golden earrings into] an ephod [a sacred, high priest’s garment], and put it in his city of Ophrah, and all Israel worshiped it as an idol there, and it became a trap for Gideon and his household.

THE TROUBLER FOUND AND REMOVED

The troubler found and removed. Joshua said, “Why have you brought disaster on us? The LORD will bring you disaster this day.” Then all Israel stoned them [to death] with stones; afterward they burned their bodies in the fire.

CUT OUT THE PLAGUE SPOT

Cut out the plague spot. But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has counseled rebellion against the LORD your God who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to draw you away from the way in which the LORD your God has commanded you to walk. So you shall remove the evil from among you.

. ‘But if he struck his victim down [intentionally] with an iron object so that he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall certainly be put to death.

THE DEATH OF NADAB AND ABIHU

Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took their respective [ceremonial] censers, put fire in them, placed incense on it and offered strange (unauthorized, unacceptable) fire before the LORD, [an act] which He had not commanded them to do.
And fire came out from the presence of the LORD and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

LAWS ABOUT SOCIAL JUSTICE

You shall not harm or oppress any widow or fatherless child.
If you harm or oppress them in any way, and they cry at all to Me [for help], I will most certainly hear their cry;
and My wrath shall be kindled and burn; I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.
