MOSES SONG:THE LORD’S FAVOR UPON ISRAEL

Moses’ song: the lord’s favor upon Israel. Then Moses spoke in the hearing of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended:

JOSHUA TO LEAD ISRAEL

Joshua Commissioned to Lead Israel. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, the time for you to die is near; call Joshua, and present yourselves at the Tent of Meeting, so that I may commission him.” So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves at the Tent of Meeting.

JOSHUA TO SUCCEED MOSES

Joshua to Succeed Moses. It is the LORD your God who will cross ahead of you; He will destroy these nations before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua is the one who will go across before you [to lead you], just as the LORD has said.

PROMISES TO RETURNING WANDERERS

Promises to returning wanderers. The Hebrew people have often turned to this chapter in the belief that the day must come when God will pity their forlorn condition and restore them from “the outmost parts of heaven.” They do not consider that the promise was fulfilled in the return of a handful of their race under Nehemiah and Ezra.

THE COVENANT RENEWED IN MOAB

The Covenant Renewed in Moab. These are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the sons of Israel in the land of Moab, in addition to the covenant which He made with them at Horeb (Sinai).

THE BITTER FRUITS OF DISOBEYING GOD

. “The LORD will bring a nation against you from far away, from the end of the earth, [as swift] as the eagle swoops down [to attack], a nation whose language you will not understand,
a defiant nation who will have no respect for the old, nor show favor to the young,
and it will eat the offspring of your herd and the produce of your ground until you are destroyed, who will leave you no grain, new wine, or oil, nor the offspring of your herd or the young of your flock until they have caused you to perish.

BLESSINGS UPON THE OBEDIENT

Blessings upon the obedient. “Now it shall be, if you diligently listen to and obey the voice of the LORD your God, being careful to do all of His commandments which I am commanding you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.

OFFERINGS OF FIRSTFRUITS AND TITHES

“Then it shall be, when you enter the land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance, and you take possession of it and live in it,
that you shall take some of the first of all the produce of the ground which you harvest from the land that the LORD your God gives you, and you shall put it in a basket and go to the place where the LORD your God chooses to establish His Name (Presence).
