ZION’S COMING SALVATION

VII. NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH, Isaiah 58-66

Isaiah 62:1-12

ZION’S COMING SALVATION

For Zion’s sake I (Isaiah) will not be silent, And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet, Until her righteousness and vindication go forth as brightness, And her salvation goes forth like a burning torch.

The nations will see your righteousness and vindication [by God], And all kings [will see] your glory; And you will be called by a new name Which the mouth of the LORD will designate. [Rev_2:17]

You will also be [considered] a crown of glory and splendor in the hand of the LORD, And a royal diadem [exceedingly beautiful] in the hand of your God.

It will no longer be said of you [Judah], “Azubah (Abandoned),” Nor will it any longer be said of your land, “Shemamah (Desolate)”; But you will be called, “Hephzibah (My Delight is in Her),” And your land, “Married”; For the LORD delights in you, And to Him your land will be married [owned and protected by the LORD].

For as a young man marries a virgin [O Jerusalem], So your sons will marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So your God will rejoice over you.

On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed and stationed watchmen (prophets), Who will never keep silent day or night; You who profess the LORD, take no rest for yourselves,

And give Him no rest [from your prayers] until He establishes Jerusalem And makes her a praise on the earth.

The LORD has sworn [an oath] by His right hand and by His mighty arm, “I will never again give your grain as food for your enemies, Nor will [the invading] foreigners drink your new wine for which you have labored.”

But they who have harvested it will eat it and praise the LORD, And they who have gathered it will drink it [at the feasts celebrated] in the courtyards of My sanctuary.

Go through, go through the gates, Clear the way for the people; Build up, build up the highway, Remove the stones, lift up a banner over the peoples.

Listen carefully, the LORD has proclaimed to the end of the earth, Say to the Daughter of Zion, “Look now, your salvation is coming [in the LORD]; Indeed, His reward is with Him, and His restitution accompanies Him.” [Isa_40:10]

And they will call them “The Holy People, The Redeemed of the LORD”; And you will be called “Sought Out, A City Not Deserted.”

70. What new name will God bestow on Zion? Why?

The Intercessor, Isa_62:1-4. Messiah is speaking here. Throughout the ages, He ever lives to make intercession. He asks that His Church may be one, that the heathen may be given Him for His inheritance, and that Israel may be restored. It is the cry of the unresting Savior. When Jesus pleads for thee, poor soul, thou canst not be desolate and forsaken. God loves, though all hate; God delights, though all abhor; God remains, though all forsake.

Intercessors, Isa_62:5-7. The Great High-Priest calls us to be priests. The unresting Lord calls on us not to rest. He says, “Watch with me.” He gives us rest from sin and sorrow, that we may not rest from prayer. We must take no rest and give God no rest. We are to become God’s “remembrancers,” Isa_62:6, R.V.

The divine answer, Isa_62:8-12. To the prophet’s mind the prayer is already answered as soon as spoken. Already the highway must be prepared for the return of the exiles. So to us, who have lain among the ashes, salvation comes apace. Make ready to trail thy Deliverer! Then learn to become the salt and benediction of others!

New Covenant Israelite! "And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;  Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee."  Rom 11:17 -18
