People of the World where are you going? Turn back to God! Back to your faithful principles!
OUTLINE OF THE FIRST EPISTLE OF PETER
This Epistle was addressed primarily to Christian Hebrews, though it does not exclude Gentiles who, by adoption and faith, become members of the true Israel of God.
THE EFFECTUAL PRAYER OF FAITH
Is anyone among you suffering? He must pray. Is anyone joyful? He is to sing praises [to God].
Is anyone among you sick? He must call for the elders (spiritual leaders) of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
and the prayer of faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
PATIENTLY AWAIT THE LORDS COMING
So wait patiently, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits [expectantly] for the precious harvest from the land, being patient about it, until it receives the early and late rains.
WARNING AGAINST WORLINESS BOASTING ABOUT TOMMOROW
Believers do not speak against or slander one another.
Come now [and pay attention to this], you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and carry on our business and make a profit.”
WARNING AGAINST WORLDLINESS DRAW NIGH TO GOD
Warning Against Worldliness Draw Nigh to God
SEEK WISDOM FROM ABOVE
And the seed whose fruit is righteousness (spiritual maturity) is sown in peace by those who make peace [by actively encouraging goodwill between individuals].
LET CHRIST BRIDLE YOUR MOUTH AND TONGUE
Not many [of you] should become teachers [serving in an official teaching capacity], my brothers and sisters, for you know that we [who are teachers] will be judged by a higher standard
FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD
What is the benefit, my fellow believers, if someone claims to have faith but has no [good] works [as evidence]? Can that [kind of] faith save him? [No, a mere claim of faith is not sufficient–genuine faith produces good works.]
GOD REWARDS, NOT TEMPS
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God” [for temptation does not originate from God, but from our own flaws]; for God cannot be tempted by [what is] evil, and He Himself tempts no one.
TESTING OF YOUR FAITH BE STEADFAST
And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing.
