THE PRIESTLY ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK

For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham as he returned from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,
and Abraham gave him a tenth of all [the spoil].

THE CERTAINTY OF GOD’S PROMISE

But, beloved, even though we speak to you in this way, we are convinced of better things concerning you, and of things that accompany salvation.

Jesus became the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey Him, being designated by God as High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek.

A REST FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD ENTERED BY FAITH AND PRAYER

Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience [as those who died in the wilderness].
